Retail technology experts, K3 Retail, have relaunched their prestigious in-house trainee programme, the K3 Academy.
The new term kicks off this week for the six trainees who were chosen from a field of more than fifty applicants. Coming from a variety of backgrounds, including academia, retail and programming, the trainees between them boast experience and knowledge of several high street retail brands and seven programming languages.
Kerry Hughes Wright, Head of AX Practice at K3 Retail states: “The K3 Academy is an initiative to bring a new generation of young, talented individuals to the K3 work place. Selected for their attitude and aptitude, we are making a significant investment in order to identify and nurture talent.
“We consider this a huge responsibility for K3 Retail and have developed the programme so that it is a great experience for the Academy members as well as equipping them with the skills and knowledge they need to build a great career with us.”
The nine-month Academy programme will provide the trainees with experience of every part of the business through structured placements supported by buddies and an ongoing review process guided by mentors. In addition to on-the-job training the programme will consist of a blend of interactive and self-directed learning, with external certifications.
Syed Naqvi says: “I was really attracted to the way the K3 Academy programme will give me a solid grounding in the business. Coming straight from graduating with a degree in computing, I felt I had the technical IT knowledge but not the experience or wider business view to make a positive difference in the workplace. K3 pride themselves on providing a service to their clients that is grounded in a thorough knowledge of the retail business. The Academy programme will help me get up to speed in all things retail as well as honing my IT skills.”
The end of this year’s K3 Academy programme will be marked by a graduation ceremony at the company’s annual summer ball, after which the Academy’s graduates will be given the opportunity to specialise in an area of the business as they go on to develop their careers.
Russell Dorset Group Managing Director at K3 Retail says: “Our people are central to the success of our business. It is their combined skills, knowledge and determination that drive us forward. And, as we move into the future, it makes sense that we invest in the talent of tomorrow.”
“K3 Retail holds Investors in People Gold accreditation, because we value our staff and know that good people make great business. Our Academy Programme is a perfect fit with our people first philosophy.”
